NEW WORK: Hearts in SF 2023
I was thrilled to be selected to create one of six hearts by the San Francisco General Hospital’s annual Hearts in San Francisco. These giant 5’x5’, 400 pound hearts are a staple in the city.
This year, my heart was titled “Emerge” because I felt like it captured the moment we’re in. Back in 2020, right before the lockdown, I created another heart with florals and botanicals called “Wild”. That name turned out to be more description of the year than I could have known. This year’s heart is called “Emerge”, inspired by the process we are all going through knowing we aren’t the same people we were back in 2020, but still beautiful.
Beginning January 25th, the hearts will be displayed in the Ferry Building in San Francisco. After the hearts are displayed they’ll be moved to San Francisco City Hall and will be sold, benefiting the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. If you want to join and support the SFGH Foundation, you can join the Hearts After Dark event on February 9.
